IT’S TIME TO RECLAIM YOUR NARRATIVE

EMDR and trauma therapy for relationship trauma, codependency, and childhood trauma

Maybe you’ve tried the self-help books, the yoga classes, the meditation podcasts, and the mindfulness techniques—but when those aren’t enough for sustainable change where do you go?

Treatment that simply addresses symptoms won’t be enough to stop to pattern of harmful relationships and constant people pleasing that leaves you feeling worthless and small.

Counseling can empower you with the skills and strategy to move past fear, pain, betrayal, childhood and relational trauma to find yourself again.

It takes courage and determination to show up for yourself and do something you’ve never done before.

Ilona Schenk-Cherry, Holistic EMDR Therapist specialized in Trauma and PTSD

20 years ago, I was terrified to share my story with anyone, vulnerability was more than I could handle.

But I knew that I couldn’t move beyond my pain without help. For me, seeking counseling was my first step towards a new life.

Having a safe, non-judgemental relationship with my therapist allowed me to become honest about myself, my past, and what I wanted for my future. I gained the courage to do what I needed to do to take control of my life and I never looked back!

My journey led me to my unique integrative and research-based approach to help you get results that last.

How I Work

My work integrates EMDR, somatic therapy, mindfulness, hypnotherapy, and relational attunement to support change that is not only understood, but embodied.

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or stories, we work with how experiences live in the nervous system because that’s where patterns are formed and where lasting change happens.

The heart of the work

Most people don’t struggle because they lack insight. They struggle because their nervous system learned strategies that once kept them safe and those strategies are now outdated.

Our work gently updates those patterns.

What the process often looks like

1. Stabilization & attunement

We start by building safety, capacity, and nervous‑system awareness. This allows your system to feel supported rather than pushed.

You’ll learn how your body responds to stress, closeness, conflict, and rest without judgment.

2. Processing & integration

Using EMDR, hypnotherapy, and somatic techniques, we work directly with:

  • stuck emotional responses
  • implicit memories
  • relational templates

This is where insight turns into lived change.

3. Relational choice & embodiment

As patterns shift, clients often notice:

  • more spaciousness in relationships
  • less reactivity and self‑doubt
  • clearer boundaries
  • increased vitality and emotional range

Change becomes something you feel not something you have to think your way into.

EMDR Intensives

For some clients, concentrated EMDR intensives allow for deeper work in a shorter time frame.

Intensives are especially helpful if:

  • you feel ready to move through a specific block or life transition
  • weekly therapy feels too slow or fragmented
  • you want focused time for integration and meaning‑making

A grounded, integrative approach

This work is:

  • trauma‑informed and ethical
  • body‑based and relational
  • emotionally attuned, not performative
  • respectful of spirituality and meaning, without imposing beliefs

Whether you are seeking healing, integration, or a deeper sense of alignment, the work adapts to your nervous system not the other way around.

If you’re curious about whether this approach is a fit, we can explore that together.
